Privacy policy

BRS Advisory Pty Ltd (ABN [[ABN]]) complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This page explains what we collect, why, where it lives and the rights you have over it.

What we collect

To provide accounting, taxation, SMSF, audit and advisory services we collect information you give us and information we’re authorised to obtain on your behalf: identity details (including the identity verification the Tax Practitioners Board requires), contact details, tax file numbers, financial records, payroll and superannuation data, and correspondence with regulators such as the ATO and ASIC. TFNs are handled under the ATO’s TFN guidelines and never used for anything except the services you’ve engaged us for.

Why we collect it

To deliver the services in your engagement letter, meet our legal obligations (including tax law, the TASA code of conduct, audit standards and anti-money-laundering requirements), operate the client portal, and — only with your consent — send you relevant updates about tax and regulatory change. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Where it’s stored

Client data is stored with reputable providers in Australian-hosted environments, with multi-factor authentication, least-privilege access and logging. Website enquiry forms are relayed by email and are not stored on the website itself.

Offshore processing

Some processing work may be performed by team members located outside Australia under our supervision. Data remains hosted in Australia, access is restricted and logged, and the arrangement is disclosed in — and consented to through — your engagement letter. See the full outsourcing & data disclosure.

Disclosure

We disclose information when the engagement requires it (to the ATO, ASIC, your bank at your request, an independent auditor or actuary), when the law compels it, or to professional advisers and insurers under confidentiality. Independent SMSF and trust-account audit clients’ records are used solely for the audit engagement.

Analytics and cookies

The website runs no analytics unless you consent through the banner. If enabled, Google Analytics 4 is loaded with IP anonymisation. Declining leaves the site fully functional.

Access, correction and complaints

You can request access to, or correction of, your personal information at any time via hello@brsadvisory.com.au. If you believe we’ve mishandled your information, raise it with us first (see complaints); if unresolved, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
