Register a company or trust online — with an accountant, not a form-filler
A chartered accountant sets up the right structure — Pty Ltd, discretionary trust, unit trust or SMSF trustee — with the constitution, ABN, GST, PAYG and business name done properly, entirely online.
A Pty Ltd registration is $1,090 plus the ASIC registration fee of $636 (2026–27), which is GST-free and shown separately — it covers the constitution, ABN, TFN, GST and PAYG registrations, business name and all the consents and registers a company actually needs on day one. A discretionary trust — deed, ABN and TFN — is $690, and an SMSF with corporate trustee is $1,495.
The difference between us and a registration website is the ten minutes before the form: who should own the shares, whether a trust should sit above the company, whether you’ll want a second class of shares for family income — decisions that are cheap now and expensive to unwind later. If you’re moving an existing sole-trader business into a company, the small business restructure rollover can usually eliminate the tax cost of the move.
After registration, our ASIC registered-agent service is
$150/yr a year (plus ASIC’s annual review fee, currently $342, or $70 for special-purpose SMSF trustee companies): we handle the annual statement, solvency resolution and any officeholder or address changes so a missed letter never becomes a late fee.

Questions, answered
What does it cost to register a company?
Our fee is $1,090 ex GST, plus the ASIC registration fee of $636 (2026–27), which is GST-free and shown separately. That includes the constitution, ABN, TFN, GST and PAYG registrations, business name and all consents and registers — plus structure advice before anything is lodged.
How long does registration take?
Once directors have verified ID and e-signed, ASIC registration is usually same-day and the ABN typically issues immediately or within a few days. Most clients are ready to open a bank account within one to two business days of starting online.
Why not just use a $600 online registrar?
A registrar types what you tell it. The expensive mistakes — wrong shareholders, no trust above the company, one share class when the family needed two — happen before the form. Our fee buys the advice conversation first, then a complete set-up you don't have to redo.
Do I need a director ID first?
Yes — every director needs a director identification number before appointment, applied for personally through the ABRS. It's free and takes a few minutes with myGovID. We walk each director through it during onboarding if they don't already have one.
Should I set up a trust instead of, or as well as, a company?
It depends on income splitting, asset protection and exit plans. A discretionary trust ($690 plus any state deed duty) suits many families; a company suits retained profits and outside investors; many groups use both. We advise before registering — that's the point of doing it with an accountant.
What is the ASIC registered agent service?
For $150/year ex GST we act as your company's ASIC agent — annual statement and solvency resolution handled, officeholder and address changes lodged, and ASIC's deadlines diarised so the $342 annual review fee ($70 for special-purpose SMSF trustee companies) never attracts late penalties.
Can you register a company for my SMSF or a bare trust for fund borrowing?
Yes. Special-purpose trustee companies, bare/custodian trusts for limited recourse borrowing and unit trusts are all standard work, set up to satisfy the super rules and the lender's requirements at the same time.
Is GST registration always included?
We register you for GST if you're over the threshold or elect in — it's part of the fixed fee. If registering early would just create BAS obligations you don't need yet, we'll say so and leave it until the numbers justify it.
